Let’s talk about gym style, something I never would have considered to be important even just two years ago… When I first started out on my transformation journey, I hated trying on clothes, and in fact most of my clothes barely fit me any more so I had just a few bottoms and tops to choose from. Baggy shorts and over-sized t-shirts in boring colors were my go-to. I didn’t love myself back then and that’s how I dressed myself. I used to think 1) I didn’t deserve beautiful clothes and 2) nothing nice would fit me anyway, especially at my age. It wasn’t until my daughter insisted that I buy some new workout clothes and took me shopping at @forever21 that I understood that that mindset wasn’t working for me. When I saw myself in flattering clothes in cute colors, I could see that my inner dialogue had to go. I actually had muscles! I actually had a good shape taking form! I felt so good inside to see that in those new clothes. ?Even though it might seem like something superficial like clothing can’t have a big impact on how we see ourselves it absolutely can my dears! If I can learn that lesson in my seventies you can too. Now you won’t catch me heading to the gym (or my living room as the case may be ?) without taking the time to chose a favorite outfit. My daughter tells her clients, “you have to invest the same love and compassion for yourself at the START of your transformation that would to your own daughter if she was in your shoes. You would encourage her, compliment her on her successes no matter how small, and you would treat her to some workout clothes that were flattering, wouldn’t you? So learn to do that for yourself, and replace that negative inner dialogue with a positive one”. Now I’m sharing this with you. ? Please don’t wait til you’re “perfect” to take pride in yourself. You have to already see your perfection, your effort and your courage today. Love yourself enough to change, and show yourself that love daily. On the right I’m wearing one of my favorite outfits by @womensbest . If you have any questions please ask below, and share your favorite gym-wear brands with each other! With Love Joan ? . #womenbest #womensbestwear

My biggest advice to all of you trying to make a big change is: JUST DON’T QUIT! ? When I started out on this journey (that I’m STILL on, mind you), I didn’t have high expectations. I just wanted to get off my medication and stop racing towards that hospital bed! ? My daughter had tried for years to persuade me to stop snacking and start following a proper eating routine, but I was just too exhausted and depressed to make it stick, or so I thought. Watching my own mother sicken and pass away in a nursing home, and hearing my own doctor tell me I needed to increase my heart medication, was the final straw. ? When my daughter pleaded with me one last time to join her online transformation group, I went for it. Even though I didn’t own a cell phone at the time, or know a darned thing about apps or even how to take a picture and “load” it ! ? t#This was a Big Leap moment for me. I did it for my health, and I did it so that I could try to enjoy my last years on this earth happy and energized. ? If I could persuade you all to do it for your own health and well-being, to invest in your strength and flexibility so that you can really enjoy being in your own body, then I will be a happy woman. When you improve your health, it’s like taking a whole new lease out in life. You don’t even know all the benefits that will come your way, so you can enjoy a heap of wonderful surprises there, too. ? . For those of you that are unable to work with a coach, my team and I are finalizing my first ebook to help you get started. It will cover training at home, a meal plan that I am helping to put together with some of my favorite recipes, and some of my own top tips on mindset. It will be available soon, and I will keep you all updated. I’m working very hard on the exercise videos myself. ?? . Have a beautiful Sunday everybody. Let’s all get through this by spreading some positivity and light on the situation. With love, Joan xx . #transformation #health #fitover70

Here’s a great circuit you can do at home or on the beach, courtesy of my coach, @yourhealthyhedonista ! ? . Don’t forget @womensbest is still celebrating their 5-year anniversary with up to 60% off EVERYTHING Link in my bio ⬆️ Thank me later ? . Do 2 rounds, 40 seconds each as hard as you can followed by 20 seconds recovery, for a total of 20 minutes ?? . 1) partner squats: do 10 body weight squats while your partner does an isometric hold squat, then keep switching roles. Your legs will be trembling! 2) push ups! If you can’t do strict pushups yet, try incline push ups keeping a tight plank (better than kneeling pushups if you have a goal to one day master them ?) 3) walking lunges! Practice good form by staying upright, squeezing the glutes to keep the hips stable and the knees tracking over your toes 4) crab walks! ? these are fun and hard on the triceps! ? 5) curtesy lunges: just like the walking lunges keep the glutes engaged, and the core tight, staying upright and making the lower body do the work ? 6) shuttle runs!! ? pick a 10-yard space and run back and forth as fast as you can, tapping the imaginary line and pivoting like a gazelle (or a 74-year lady in my case ?) 7) side lunges: so hard! Glutes tight, strong core, and upper body as upright as you can get it! 8) plank to “T”: keep a tight plank, glutes engaged throughout. A great core and triceps ??♀️ 9) front lunges: same form as the other lunges. ? 10) plank To Touch: again, keep a tight plank, and the hand touches the alternate leg. The shoulders get worked here too! ? . Have a go girls and let me know how it goes! . Because you asked, I wear a small bottom and a medium top, and Michelle wears XS bottoms and a small top. Happy Tuesday!
