Njen sin, Aleksander Elis, rekao je za Njujork Tajms da je hospitalizovana sa visokom temperaturom 30. decembra i da je tada utvrđeno da boluje od kovida, dodaje list Hil.
Iako je njena cela porodica bila republikanska, Elis je bila veliki demokrata ceo život, a bila je i šef sekcije Nove Engleske za legalnu odbranu i edukacioni fond, ali je radila i u kampanji svog sestrića tokom kandidature za predsednika.
